This month witnessed the debut of New York Fashion Week’s Bridal Collection for Fall 2017. Designers like Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Reem Acra and others presented their bridal collection for the New York Bridal Fashion Week. The show witnessed variety of designs, traditional as well as modern and displayed various bridal fashion trends for the fall. From metallic dresses to the entry of capes, there were some upcoming trends very much evident in the fashion show.
To start with it was the wedding pants that caught our attention first. While gowns are conventional and traditional, wedding pants, jumpsuits and suits are breather for women who do not like the flowy, breezy gowns and want to be comfortable and at ease. These pants look chic and elegant and were seen in various styles from lace to embroidery to embellishments.
Flowers are traditionally associated with weddings so having them as part of the wedding gown design is a norm. However, a modern and edgy version of the traditional flower design was something many designers experimented with in their collection. These botanical motifs like flowers, branches and leaves were present in abundance in most of the collections. Naeem Khan presented such patterns in the designer collection and it looked contemporary and very romantic.
Another trend that was very evident during the fashion week was the long, flowy, billowy sleeves. This trend is very popular now and, it was not a surprise to witness this during the bridal fashion week. This sleeves give a vintage hint to the outfit and look very stylish when presented with an off shoulder neck. Add a flower string or flower tiara to your hair and you have a boho look ready!
It is difficult to separate ruffles from wedding gowns and no matter how edgy or contemporary the approach is, designers always fall for this design. They add a dimension to the outfit and is perfect to hide the curves you are not comfortable in flaunting.
A wedding is a grand affair so a little spark always helps. The bridal fashion week witnessed some gorgeous metallic wedding gowns that added an instant glimmer to the runway.
Veils have been there and will be there but this fall the trend is more tilted towards capes. This piece is added to the dress to add an instant touch of glamour to the overall look. Oscar de La Renta presented a simple wedding gown with a beautiful cape comprising of botanical pattern. Other designers such as Berta and Ramona Keveza also presented some glamorous capes at the runway.
Since destination weddings have become such a rage, light, flowy wedding gowns, perfect for a tropical destination, made an unforgettable presence on the runway. The style is perfect for an outdoor event and looks absolutely effortlessly.
Some unexpected trends that we witnessed during the bridal fashion week are the use of bold colors and introduction of crop tops. Generally, wedding gowns are associated with white or pastel colors but some designers presented their wedding gowns in bright and bold colors like yellow.
