British fashion designer Stella McCartney recently launched her first menswear collection. The collection was unveiled at the very famous Abbey Road recording studio in London. Instead of a fashion show at menswear fashion week, McCartney unveiled her collection at a fabulous independent event.
The popularity of this recording studio can be credited to Stella McCartney’s father Paul McCartney and his fellow Beatles members. The studio got famous when the Beatles named their album after Abbey Road in 1969. The album reference was used during the fashion show by parading models over the white stripes as was shown in the album cover in 1969.
Paul McCartney was also the source of inspiration behind the collection along with Stella McCartney’s husband and other impactful artists and musicians.
The blue silk shirt with two Swallows takes its inspiration from a shirt that Paul McCartney use to wear when his daughter was a kid. She also created a similar blouse for her womenswear collection.
The collection comprised of both casual as well as formal wear. The collection is colorful and in Stella McCartney words the collection will help men to have a fun and freestyle wardrobe. From bright jammies and socks to overcoats and suits, the variety in the collection is immense.
The best thing about the collection is that it does not only caters to men who have a specific interest in fashion. The collection has pieces that can accommodate all kinds of personalities. The outfits are timeless and will provide men the sense of freedom that they always desire. The idea behind the collection is to let men have some fun with clothes. The collection also draws inspiration from the city of London and its music history.
The studio is an iconic place in itself and as per McCartney the studio holds a very special place in their family and the studio has witnessed some of the best and rich music in the world. Over the years, many great artists have recorded in the studio, to name a few there have been Radiohead, Pink Floyd Blur and the Manic Street Preachers.
Model Kate Moss and Twiggy attended the launch along with other popular personalities from the industry like Anna Friel and MIA. Run- DMC gave a music performance during the event. Stella McCartney womenswear collection for Spring 2017 was also launched during the same event.
McCartney was trained at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Today she is an iconic designer known to have designed for the Duchess of Cambridge and Michelle Obama.
